Big Knife Provincial Park
This Park is small but mighty! A great place to take the family for a campout or just for the day. Hiking trails provide great views of the Battle River and the surrounding coulees and hoodoos. Splash along the river bank or launch your canoe or kayak for a meandering paddle. There are excellent birdwatching opportunities as well. Bring your phone or GPS unit to search for some of the geocaches hidden in the Park. The campsite permits RV and tent camping, including some walk-in sites.
Buffalo Lake Provincial Recreation Area
25 km northwest of Stettler, off Hwy. 56
This Provincial Recreation Area, Boss Hill is one of three campgrounds on central Alberta's Buffalo Lake.Take a walk down the shoreline or along the small beach, watch for owls, song birds and deer in the surrounding forest, or take a boat out on to the lake for some great fishing. Waterskiing and wind surfing are also popular activities on the water.
Rochon Sands Provincial Park
Rochon Sands Provincial Park is located on Buffalo Lake in central Alberta. In addition to the campground, the Park offers opportunities to enjoy the sandy beach, go swimming, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, power boating, fishing, birding and wildlife watching. Enjoy the playground and pop into the nearby Village of Rochon to enjoy an ice cream!
