Big Knife Provincial Park
This Park is small but mighty! A great place to take the family for a campout or just for the day. Hiking trails provide great views of the Battle River and the surrounding coulees and hoodoos. Splash along the river bank or launch your canoe or kayak for a meandering paddle. There are excellent birdwatching opportunities as well. Bring your phone or GPS unit to search for some of the geocaches hidden in the Park. The campsite permits RV and tent camping, including some walk-in sites.
Buffalo Lake Provincial Recreation Area
25 km northwest of Stettler, off Hwy. 56
This Provincial Recreation Area, Boss Hill is one of three campgrounds on central Alberta's Buffalo Lake.Take a walk down the shoreline or along the small beach, watch for owls, song birds and deer in the surrounding forest, or take a boat out on to the lake for some great fishing. Waterskiing and wind surfing are also popular activities on the water.
Ol' MacDonalds Resort and Campground
17km north of Erskine, AB via Hwy835, off Range Rd 212
Ol' MacDonald's is a family destination campground/R.V. Resort on the south shore of Buffalo Lake in central Alberta near Stettler. Lots for kids and adults ...clean sandy beach indoor mini golf playgrounds. cafe arcade stores coffee shop. Reservations recommended but overflow area available. Events include a Country Music Festival in September.
Prairie Junction RV Resort

Rochon Sands Provincial Park
Rochon Sands Provincial Park is located on Buffalo Lake in central Alberta. In addition to the campground, the Park offers opportunities to enjoy the sandy beach, go swimming, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, power boating, fishing, birding and wildlife watching. Enjoy the playground and pop into the nearby Village of Rochon to enjoy an ice cream!
Summer Village of White Sands
The Summer Village of White Sands is situated on the southeast shore of beautiful Buffalo Lake. Located in the heart of Central Alberta in the Aspen Parkland Region, Buffalo Lake is the largest lake in the area, spanning 124 kmĀ² (55 sq. miles). Excellent fishing, boating and water skiing, along with a broad natural white sand beach, make White Sands a favourite. The Summer Village of White Sands is comprised of several sub-divisions for permanent and seasonal residents. No camping facilities are available in the Summer Village of White Sands.
The Narrows Campground
70km northeast of Red Deer, off Range Road 221
This scenic campground is first-come, first-serve only and is built along a narrow channel connecting two portions of Buffalo Lake. Sites are RV and tent-friendly and surrounded by trees. The channel offers good opportunities for shore fishing and is great for young anglers and paddlers. Enjoy wonderful bird watching opportunities.
